Parent Ally Program

Pursuant to K.S.A. 38-2247, the Office of Judicial Administration has developed written materials and an electronic presentation to facilitate the implementation of the Parent Ally Program in each judicial district. With this program, each judicial district may allow up to two people designated by parents whose child or children are subject to the Kansas Code for the Care of Children to attend Child in Need of Care (CINC) hearings, provided the parent's designees have participated in a Parent Ally Orientation program approved by the Judicial Administrator.

The program materials, developed using a grant from the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services, include a written Parent Ally Orientation Manual, a written Parent Ally Orientation informational brochure, and an electronic Parent Ally Orientation presentation. The orientation program introduces participants to the basic concepts of the CINC process, including requirements for confidentiality, placement options, an explanation of what the Parent Ally is and is not permitted to do, and more. At the end of the 40-minute electronic program, a written "acknowledgment of participation" form is printed with the person's name and county of residence.

The program can be found online at:
