District Magistrate Judge Pat CarrollTOPEKA—After 20 years serving as district magistrate judge, Judge Pat Carroll will retire when his current term ends January 9, 2017.

Carroll has been a district magistrate judge since 1997, serving Cheyenne, Logan, Rawlins, Sheridan, Sherman, Thomas, and Wallace counties.

"It truly was a pleasure to be a member of the Kansas judiciary these past 20 years," Carroll said. "I hope I have served Kansans well. I have had the best court clerks, best attorneys, great fellow judges, law enforcement officers, and a lot of great friends throughout the 15th judicial district."

Carroll was a member of the Kansas Judicial Education Advisory Committee, the Northwest Kansas Corrections Advisory Board, and the Northwest Juvenile Corrections Advisory Board. He served on the Kansas District Magistrate Judges Association Board for three years and also as the association's president.

Carroll said he enjoyed the countless adoption proceedings, as well as the successful child in need of care and juvenile cases he's presided over.

Carroll's plans for retirement include working around his home and traveling with his spouse of 55 years.
